The system used to draft pattern is flat patternmaking system. The Patternmaker must develop analytical skills, by analyzing the creative detailing of each design and by studying the differences between the basic garment and the design. Pattern drafting starts with a basic pattern plain draft, no particular style or design, except for a few
vertical lines placed here and there. The four basic blocks are related to every garment in your clothing collection. The basic information represents the very foundation upon which patternmaking, fit and design isbased. It clarifies and helps the patternmaker understand the fit of a garment relative to the pattern slope. On completion of this module, the student is able to develop patterns that relate to most garments hanging in the wardrobe.
