Situated in Rosebank, Studio 05 School of Fashion prides itself in providing the highest quality education in the local fashion field.
Established in 2003 Studio 05 is an institution created to encourage and nurture the development of emerging fashion designers who are equipped with entrepreneurial skills to survive and grow in this constantly evolving industry.
The schools approach to its education module is designed to take into account individual career directions, being Fashion Illustration, Pattern Making, Clothing Manufacturing, Haute Couture, Lingerie, Tailoring, Fashion Branding or Fashion Buying.
The intensive three-year programme gives you not only a reputable qualification, but you gain practical knowledge and insight that enables you to create your own Fashion Brand.
The school also offers Saturday PART TIME programmes designed for co-operates and people with broad experience of life and professions.
Our lecturers are all active Fashion Designers, who together hold a wealth of knowledge in the fashion industry.
Mission Statement
Studio 05 School of Fashion is a Fashion Design Institution in South Africa that provides theoretical grounding and practical experience in clothing design and manufacturing to grow in this difficult and changing environment, so to succeed in the global market.
Provides good quality education and training for creative South African Learners.
Encourage the learners to start their own businesses by designing their own collection for retailers.
Our learners participate in internships in the fashion industry that could lead to job opportunities such as Fashion Designers, Pattern Makers, Pattern Graders, Production Managers, Fashion Buyers, visual Merchandisers, Fashion Stylists and Fashion Editors.
Enrolment Code of conduct
•Registration is provisional pending the submission by the applicant and successful assessment by Studio 05 School of Fashion of the following documents: Enrolment form, Two identity photographs, Certified copy of latest school report, Certified copy of ID or Passport, Certified copy of ID of person responsible for Fees, Valid study permit in the case of foreign student
•Studio 05 School of Fashion fees do not include admission fees and certification fees, notes, textbooks, stationary or any other items.
•Studio 05 School of Fashion will only grant registration once the deposit is paid in full.
•Should any moneys due under this contract not paid on the due date, the learner may be excluded from attending further lectures until such time as all monies have been paid.
•Deposit and registration payable are non refundable. Payment in full can only be redeemable within 7 working days should you have a change of mind.
•Should the learner decide to terminate studies, 3 months school fees will be deemed payable immediately.
•Long term fee payment, payable in full when you bridge the contract.
•Studio 05 School of Fashion reserves the right to withhold the students examination results until all outstanding monies have been paid.
•Payment in full will be received on or before the due dates asset in the enrolment document.
•The signatory will remain liable for all expenses incurred by Studio 05 School of Fashion as a result of any breach on the contract.
•If any instalments due remain unpaid for a period of six days, the balance will immediately become due and payable. Interest on overdue accounts will be charged.
•The information submitted on the application form, registration form and enrolment contract is true and correct.
•The learner has read and agrees to abide by the institutes enrolment rules and regulations.
Pastoral Care
Where learners are identified as needing special care the school will liaise with parents and refer the learner for assessment of outside counselling.
We ask parents to let the school know if there are any problems at home, so that the learner can be helped when they are at school. Such information is entirely confidential.
Academic Performance
Learners with poor attendance may apply to repeat lectures at extra costs..
If the learner is absent from school for any reason please:
•Phone the office.
•A medical report is required if a learner is absent for an assignment or project or test.
Poor Academic Performance: (that lead to terminate studies without notice)
•Not attending classes (80% of all classes)
•Arrives late for classes
•Missing deadlines
•Poor work performance
•Missing prescribed work, team work, class tests or assignments.

Assesment Strategy
Learning is measured and assessed through integrative projects and assignments.
•Assessment is the systematic process of collecting and interpreting evidence in order to judge the level of competence of an individual to perform a certain task or tasks in accordance with pre-defined performance standards or criteria.
•Assessment is a structured, formalised approach through which quality of learning programmes and assessment practice is assured.
•Assessment is used to measure the attainment of learning outcomes and unit standards.
•Assessment plays a crucial role in the development of learners and in the achievement of national skills development needs in the following ways:
To monitor individual learning performance
To certify individual competence against unit standards
To assess competence
To recognise prior learning and give access to all to training and development.
To assess learning programmes
To provide development support to learners
•Assessment is outcomes-based in that it focuses on what learners are able to do at the end of the learning process.
•Assessment methods collect integrated evidence of a learners competence.
•Where possible assessment criteria and evidence is aligned with unit standard requirements.
•Assessments attached to registered unit standards will attract national credits for the learner.
•Assessments are conducted in line with Studio 05s assessment policies and will uphold the principles of outcomes-based assessments.
Only registered assessors will assess evidence where such evidence is aligned with credit bearing unit standards.
Learning Strategy
•Delivery methods are outcomes-based in that they allow the learners to give input, practice, give feedback, receive feedback, discuss and engage with other learners and the facilitator. ( NQA Level 4 Clothing, Textile, Footwear and Leather SETA)
•Studio 05 School of Fashion has a programme aligned with full qualification of Fashion Design registered at level 4, ID Number 21026 on the National Qualifications Framework which is called a Further Education and Training Certificate in Fashion and is conformable to the broad requirements recommended in the FETC policy document.
•Studio 05 School of Fashion constitute a minimum of 120 credits with minimum of 72 credits being obtained at or above level 4 and in case of certificates of 120 credits, a maximum of 48 credits being obtained at level 3.
•Registered as a Provider for the NSF ID Number 4848. FET 00563PA
•The focus of learning is on the practical application of knowledge.
•The learning caters for different learner types and styles, adult learning principles, use of a variety of delivery methods and modes.
•Facilitators with theoretical and workplace experienced are used to deliver the learning.
•Learning is structured in logical, manageable units of learning.
•Learners are given feedback on their progress during and after each unit of learning.
•Learners are provided with the necessary support to assist them in achieving the learning outcomes.
•The number of learners per group is small to ensure individual attention.
